Despite weeks of rumors and trade buzz with the Golden State Warriors, Utah star forward Lauri Markkanen has signed a massive extension to stick around for 5 years.
Markkanen is 27 and entering the prime of his career, there was simply no offer on the table worth making a move for. In his two years with the Jazz the Finnish star has averaged 24.5 points, but his array of scoring skills at his 7-foot height is part of what makes him special. He is only one of trhee 7-footers to make 1,000 3-pointers in NBA history joining Channing Frye and legendary big man Dirk Nowitzki.
With the increasing popularity of 3-point shooting among players of all sizes that club is sure to continue to grow, but it’s noteworthy that Markkanen is so prolific at the age of 27.
