With a week to spare before the MLB trade deadline hits and a number of teams in the mix for contention there could be some late July fireworks.
Obvious buyers at the deadline include the Orioles, Dodgers, Guardians, Astros, Phillies, and Brewers. Other teams of interest surely in the mix for help but not currently leading their divisions are the Yankees, Royals, Braves, Red Sox, Mariners, and Padres.
Sellers include the White Sox, Marlins, Blue Jays, and Athletics. This could mean some very interesting players become available such as Marlins speedy CF Jazz Chisholm Jr.
The White Sox roster includes two elite starting pitchers in Garrett Crochet and Erick Fedde. Of course the biggest prize potentially on offer is the Jays young superstar Vlad Guerrero Jr.
Vlad the younger is currently slashing .292/.361/.473 with 16 homers. Given he has another 1.5 years under contract he’s also not a mere rental. Surely the cost to get him will be high, will any team on the bubble make the move?
Another big name to watch could be Randy Arozarena. The cuban slugger is having a down year in batting average, slugging percentage, and OBP but is still hitting homers and stealing bases thus providing a dynamic presence.
