The Paris Games closed as Tom Cruise rappelled into the Stadium to accept the Olympic flag and take it on to Los Angeles for 2028.
Over two weeks of competition featured over 10,000 of the worlds most elite athletes in competition where Team USA took home a whopping 125 medals, 40 of them gold.
Katie Ledecky won four herself becoming the most decorated bringing her gold medal total to 9, which is the most by an American female in history. She also holds 17 of the fastest 800-meter freestyle times in history.
There were also a few firsts for Team USA with first time gold medals in women’s fencing and cycling pursuit events.
Behind Team USA was China with 91 total medals, and also 40 gold. Japan had 45 and 20 gold, Australia 53 and 18 gold, France 64 and 16 gold, Netherlands 34 and 15 gold.
