Swimming in the Seine has long been deemed unsafe, but the plan is for the river to be occupied by a number of humans during the Paris Olympics next week.
The Seine usually has very unsafe levels of bacteria in it, and a massive effort to clean it up and be prepared for the Olympics has been underway for some time. The readings over the last few weeks have been close to acceptable, but there is a game-changing event looming and it’s not related to the Olympics at all.
The weather forecast has rain coming in Friday, which will certainly have a negative impact on the Seine’s pollution levels and endangers the early events.
Even with the very best readings possible its hard to image it being totally safe to swim in the Seine.
