TNT Sports isn’t bidding farewell to the NBA just yet. Or is it?
After considerable outcry from fans NBA on TNT and it’s beloved broadcast team seems here to stay as parent company Warner Bros. Discover exercised its matching-rights provision.
The four-decade long partnership has provided fans with a fixture considered by many to be the peak not only in NBA coverage, but in sports coverage at large. TNT has aired multiple NBA games per week, along with certain post-season series.
The deal being matched is an 11-year $1.8 billion annual contract the NBA reached with Amazon. This could shake out any number of ways, including court battles.
The current deal will go through the 2024-25 season allowing “Inside the NBA” to carry games in the upcoming regular season, as well as through the Western Conference Finals. What happens after that is up in the air.
