After a game winning layup against Sudan, LeBron James found out he would be the first US Men’s Olympic Basketball player to bear the flag.
James is a 2-time Olympic Gold Medalist with countless honors, records, and accolades and he will now add another. At age 39 he continues to play at the highest level among the greatest athletes in the world.
LeBron was nominated for the honor by teammate and long time rival/friend Steph Curry. The Laker forward said in a statement, “It’s an incredible honor to represent the United States on this global stage, especially in a moment that can bring the whole world together”
James will turn to the Lakers for the 2024-25 season after signing a multi-year deal worth as much as $104 Million dollars.
